Voices of the Cerrado

Cultural and ecological restoration in a biodiversity hotspot supporting a traditional community in the heart of the Brazilian savannah. With your help, we can establish agroforestry plots to provide food security, and preserve and restore 200 hectares alongside the Santa Bárbara waterfall, an area that is vital for hydrology and popular for ecotourism.

Maranhão: Connecting Mangroves in the Amazon

There are hundreds of quilombola communities living in threatened ecosystems in the transition zone between mangroves, the cerrado and the Amazon rainforest. Our project is employing 40 people as local leaders, seed collectors and planters to improve biodiversity, restoring critically important mangrove areas for crabs, manatees and other local fauna species. As part of a coalition, implementation partner SamaÚma planted 1 million mangroves over the first half of 2025.

Trees of Music

This project is working hard to prerserve the pernambuco trees used to make bows for stringed instruments – a trade that has pushed the tree to the brink of extinction.  The goal is to plant one million trees in the Atlantic Forest to increase water flow, regenerate the ecosystem and provide habitat for many endangered species.
